How to HAVE the BEST Slumber Party!
Pajama parties are always a great way to relax and have fun with friends, no matter what age they may be. Planning is easy; pick a few movies, make some tasty finger food, and sit back and enjoy the fun.
To entertain the neighborhood kids for a night, plan an indoor-camping themed party. The elements of the decor can easily be altered to include the preferences of both boys and girls, as well as different age groups. To start, decide whether you want to go all-out and make your own pup tents or whether you want to take the easy route and transform your living room into a large blanket fort. Let your inner kid run wild! Use extra linen, string lights, and pillow cushions to turn your dream fort into a reality.
Bring the campfire inside by creating a flameless fire with fake logs and string lights. What’s a fire without s’mores? Limit the mess by baking marshmallows and chocolate in a skillet. Consider topping the skillet with crushed Graham crackers and serve the mixture in bowls to keep fingers clean.
For dinner, set up a personal pizza station. The kids will love to choose their own toppings and sauces.
Keep the kids entertained all night while sticking to the indoor camping theme by giving each kid a small flashlight for flashlight tag. Depending on the weather and on your desire to limit damage to your living room, the game can be played in the backyard or indoors. Prolong the game by splitting the kids into two groups. Let one group hide while the other group seeks. After the game, let the kids fall asleep to outdoor-themed movies like Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom or the screen adaptation of the beloved children’s book Where the Wild Things Are.
In the morning, surprise the kids with a pancake bar. As with the personal pizzas, kids will love to make their own combinations of fillings and toppings.
Forget Girls Night Out...Let's have Girls Night IN! Pick up plenty of champagne and prepare yourself for a night of relaxation and girl talk.
Turn your living room into a lavish hangout with plenty of pink and silver. Champagne instantly adds glamour to any get together; serve your guests champagne with a skewer of frozen fruit. Pour the champagne over the skewer to add color and flavor.
For something to munch on through the night, spread the table with various types of breads and crackers. Provide multiple toppings for endless combinations. Some favorites are the classic tomato and basil bruschetta and the sweet and creamy ricotta, pear, walnut, and honey crostini.
After the food, head to the living room for wine ice cream and chick flicks. For something hilarious, consider Bridesmaids. For something a little more serious, watch Evita, starring Madonna and a catchy soundtrack. For the spur-of-the-moment decision, check out the selection of chick flick classics on Netflix.
